The 8th Raid de Himalaya car rally will take off on September 30.

Around 2200 kms long distance, involving both skills and thrills, will be covered in seven legs and each leg will be completed during the day time.

The entry of the event has been closed in view of the overwhelming response of the participants. There are 64 cars and 35 motor cycles participating this year in the rally which is already exceeding the limit set by the association.

There are six army teams three air force teams and four all women teams participating in the cars section of the rally.

Winner of the last two Raid de Himalaya in car section, Suresh Rana, a local lad from Patlikuhal in Kullu district is going for a hat-trick this time.

In the motorbike section last years winners is also competing for another win this year. Three local bikers from Shimla are also taking part in the rally.

The total prize money is Rs six lakh which will be given by Maruti Udyog Ltd, the main sponsor and attractive holiday packages would be given by HPTDC to the winners.

The prize distribution function will be held at Manali on the 7th October next.
