Rain abandons opening Pak-WI ODI

Two days of persisitent rains drew the curtain on first ODI. The next ODI is in Faisalabad on Thursday.

Heavy rains on Tuesday abandoned the opening one-day international between Pakistan and the West Indies.

Umpires Daryl Harper of Australia and Aleem Dar from Pakistan called off the game at 0900 local time (0930 IST) at the Pindi Cricket Stadium following two days of persistent rain.

"After inspecting the ground, the umpires called off the match," a Pakistan Cricket Board official Naushad Ali said.

The second game of the five-match series will be played at Faisalabad on Thursday, followed by matches at Lahore (December 10), Multan (December 13) and Karachi (December 16).
