The hosts, who arrived at the venue on Monday afternoon, could undertake practice for about half-an-hour only before the drizzle forced them to pull out from the nets.

Skipper Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid got some batting practice while Sachin Tendulkar, who is eyeing a world record of scoring maximum number of Test centuries, had to remain content with some knockings outside the nets.

Once the rains started, the hosts withdrew from the ground and waited at the stadium for sometime before proceeding for the team hotel.

Earlier, Pakistan team undertook about three-hour-long practice session under the watchful eyes of coach Bob Woolmer.

The top order failure and poor fielding in the Mohali Test appeared to have caused concern for the visitors as skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq was seen busy sorting out problems of opener Salman Butt.

Woolmer, on the other hand, was busy giving some batting lessons to wicketkeeper-batsman Karman Akmal, who scored his maiden ton in the first Test of the series.

The coach also made his boys undertake a long fielding session after an extensive work out by the players at the nets.
