Amidst ongoing talks by Samajwadi Party to form a third front minus Congress and BJP, former Prime Minister VP Singh on Sunday announced a new outfit 'Jan Morcha' headed by suspended SP Lok Sabha MP Raj Babbar.
"The new outfit would be the political front of the Kisan Morcha launched few years ago", Singh said at his residence in the presence of Babbar and representatives of other smaller parties who have extended their support to the initiative taken by the former Prime Minister and Babbar.
"For some time, Kisan Manch has been struggling for the problems faced by farmers, weavers, labourers, youths and women. A meeting of the Manch was held on Saturday, which decided to send its representatives in state assemblies and Parliament to effectively raise their voice.
"Therefore, it has decided to have a political branch and its name would be Jan Morcha. Its president would be Raj Babbar," Singh announced adding that Vinod Kumar, National General Secretary of the Kisan Manch, would be its Convenor. Singh is the President of the Kisan Manch.
Singh said the Jan Morcha, in adjustment with other like-minded parties, would participate in polls and its first target would be Uttar Pradesh, slated to go to assembly polls early next year.
Babbar, said he would be fulfilling the responsibility bestowed on him and announced that the Morcha will organise "Dera Daalo, Ghera Daalo" programme in Lucknow on May 29 to protest against the state government's policies towards these sections of the society as also growing lawlessness and corruption.
