Rajasthan Government officials have expressed shock over Orissa DGP (home guards and fire services) BB Mohanty's denial that he did not personally appear before the magistrate while furnishing surety bonds of Rs 50,000 to get parole for his son Biti Mohanty on November 20, 2006.

Additional district magistrate (ADM) JS Badhu told HT on Sunday that he had accepted the surety bonds of BB Mohanty after he appeared before him to fulfil the parole conditions.

Badhu said, "How can a top officer of the rank of DGP twist the facts? Mohanty had personally appeared before me and furnished the bonds, which is a legal requirement too. I had verified him through the identity card produced by him at that time. "

The ADM added, "A police team might be sent to Orissa on Monday to arrest the DGP though it will depend upon the completion of the inquiry being held here against him," he said. The ADM disclosed that FIRs had been filed against the father and son duo under the IPC for violating parole conditions.

Biti was granted parole by Jaipur jail authorities from November 20 to December 4, 2006, but he jumped it. He was convicted for seven years by Alwar's fast track court last year in a German tourist rape case.
