The 13–year-old daughter of Rajkhowa, Kamchen Bohagi alias Ananya Akhtar, believed that her father, whom she knows as Mizanur Rehman, is a businessman, the official who interacted with the children told PTI.

"The sight of their handcuffed fathers and their confinement has bewildered the children," the official said.

Kamchen and her five-year-old brother Gadadhar alias Farin Rehman are convinced that they are Bangladeshis, the official said, requesting anonymity.

Neither Kamchen nor Gadadhar know Assamese. "I had to speak to them in Bengali, Rajkhowa's sister-in-law Bharati, who met them at the Assam Police Guest House in Guwahati, told a news channel on Thursday night.
