Team Anna is tightlipped about Hazare’s plan, but sources in Ralegan Siddhi revealed that it was Ramdev who called Hazare on January 26.

Ramdev had watched Hazare — who has been suffering from cough and back pain — on television and noticed his swollen face. He believed the swelling was a side effect of allopathic medicines and offered help.

Differences between Hazare and Ramdev surfaced in April last year when Ramdev opposed Hazare’s view that the prime minister should not be kept out of the ambit of the lokpal bill. Team Anna didn’t attend Ramdev’s fast at Ramlila Maidan in June, nor did it invite Ramdev to participate in Hazare’s fast in August.

In December, Hazare had to cut short his three-day hunger strike in Mumbai because of ill health. He was treated for acute bronchitis at Sancheti Hospital in Pune, Maharashtra, earlier this month.

Hazare is scheduled to leave for Delhi on Sunday. After a detailed medical examination at Gurgaon’s Medanta Hospital, he will decide whether to go to Ramdev’s Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar or stay on in Delhi.
