Ranbir’s new look
YRF has launched a film titled Rocket Singh — Salesman of the Year, with a bearded and be-turbaned Ranbir Kapoor in the title role. Princy Jain tells more.
While the world is still struggling to cope with the financial crisis, Yash Raj Films has got a funny take on it. This weekend, YRF launched a film titled Rocket Singh — Salesman of the Year, with a bearded and be-turbaned Ranbir Kapoor in the title role.
The film is being directed by Shimit Amin and written by Jaideep Sahni, the same director-writer team that gave us the superhit Chak De! India in 2007. According to a source in Yash Raj, Rocket Singh is a coming-of-age movie, set in the new Indian economy.
True to Yash Raj’s way of working, everyone associated with the film is tight-lipped about it. “It’s one of the most awaited films from YRF for the year 2009. Ranbir is very hot among the viewers and with a new look, it’s certainly going to strike a chord,” says trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Ranbir’s new look was recently revealed when the actor turned up to vote in Mumbai with a beard.
The young actor seems to have taken his role very seriously. A source close to Ranbir reveals to HT City, “He has been working on perfecting the look, the body language and the lingo of a young Sardarji. What’s more, he even met real salesmen to understand the nitty-gritty of the profession. He found three Sikh marketing executives and had training sessions with them.”
