Talking to Hindustan Times, General Secretary of Science and Technological Council Varun Garg said the team had accepted the invitation but due to clash of dates with Cine awards this week, the programme could not be finalised. However, the director of the film has assured us that the team members who were free on February 25 would be at IIT-K to boost the morale of the budding engineers.

Speaking about the event, he said for the first time the engineers would display working car models under the event ‘Gets and Go’. These cars would run with exothermic energy or the power generated by the chemical reactions. Students of almost all the engineering colleges have shown great eagerness about the new programme and over 88 teams have got them registered for the mega event.

Similarly, another event named ‘Turbulence’ would be held at the Techkriti for the first time. Under the event, the young scientists would present latest high speed flying vehicles. Another most interesting event would be ‘International hacking’ to be designed online, he added.

The coordinator at the hospitality desk, Gaurav Srivastava (3rd year Chemical engineering) told HT that all necessary arrangements were being made to accommodate the visiting teams and also for holding the events at different sites. He said so far 12 teams have arrived by at the venue and the rest would arrive on February 23.

The first among the teams arrived here were from RGPV Bhopal, MGR Institute Chennai and the LIT College, Nagpur. Other teams which arrived this evening were from Dehradoon, Bhopal and Nagpur. A bout 1100 participants from outstation colleges would participate at the function, he added
He said there was no problem for the participants of the engineering colleges under the UP technical University as the college management has allowed to participate at the events and their tests would be arranged later.

He said girls would be accommodated in the girls hostel while the male students would be accommodated in the boys hostels and in the Type three houses. The centralized Mess would start operating from tonight and would remain functioning till February 26.

He said besides the regular security by professionals at the Institute, a forty-member student security team would also be deployed to contain any mischief or any act of indiscipline and to assist the regular security people in the campus.
