Recounting was ordered in Gujarat's Dahod seat following Congress demands after its candidate was defeated by a narrow margin of 362 votes.
Though the party demanded recounting in the entire constituency, the election officer ordered recounting only in Randhikpur assembly segment due to which the result has been delayed.
Sources said the Congress workers began celebrating the victory when two rounds of counting was left as their candidate was leading at that time. But the outcome was totally opposite after the final counting, forcing Congress to lodge protest with the authorities.
It is a close contest between sitting BJP MP Babubhai Katara and Congress nominee Dr Prabhaben Taviad, whose candidature had triggered a storm of protests in the party.
