Students from Bhubaneswar and Jamshedpur came out with flying colours in the regional finals of the 7th Inter-Institutional LN Birla National Debate in Kolkata on Tuesday.
University Law College, Bhubaneswar, emerged as the best college while Hill-Top School, Jamshedpur, won the best school trophy in a keenly contested debate on the motion ‘Religious liberty is detrimental to national growth.’ Rangin Pallav Tripathi of University Law College was also adjudged the best speaker in college category while Sourav Roy of Birla High School was declared the best speaker in the school category.
Seven colleges from eastern cities like Bhubaneswar, Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Kolkata took part in the event while in the school category, there were eight teams of two speakers each.
