Under the agreement, Reliance Communications would offer Nokia's Ovi Life Tools — a set of mobile information services for agriculture, education and entertainment.

The two companies aim to jointly create an enabling environment to address information gaps in rural and semi-urban areas of the country offering information on crop prices, harvesting, health advise and songs among others.

Mobile phone service providers are now increasingly focussing upon data driven services that gives them higher revenues than the voice based services.
