The remand was extended on the request of the accused who had sought more time from the court as they had found a lawyer to defend them, according to senior standing counsel OP Singh.

The accused could not find a counsel as Faizabad Bar Association had appealed to advocates not to take up their cause and as a result charges could not be framed against them even after 25 hearings.

All the accused, Irfan of Saharanpur, Asif Iqbal of Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Aziz, Mohammad Naseem and Shakeel were brought from the Naini Jail Central Jail, Allahabad, amidst tight security.
