Replicate Rae Bareli win across UP: Khurshid

STATE CONGRESS chief Salman Khurshid called upon partymen to replicate the Rae Bareli win in other parts of the State in the next election.?Rae Bareli is the power station. Khurshid was addressing a large gathering of lawyers at the concluding ceremony of the UPCC Legal Cell Nyay Rath Yatra and the State-level lawyers? conference at Ravindralaya on Saturday.

Khurshid was addressing a large gathering of lawyers at the concluding ceremony of the UPCC Legal Cell Nyay Rath Yatra and the State-level lawyers’ conference at Ravindralaya on Saturday.

AICC spokesperson and Supreme Court advocate Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi said lawyers were at the forefront of the Independence movement and the Congress in the pre-independence era. He called upon lawyers to come to the forefront in the ‘second war of independence’ from lawlessness, injustice, backwardness, castesism and criminalisation. He said lawyers should file PILs to expose all that was going wrong. Intellectuals and professionals were the soul of a society, and they could rouse people from their slumber. They led by example and could influence many, he said. He also said a profession was different from a business, as there was an element of service in the former. AICC legal cell chairman MC Bhandare said: “It’s time for professionals to join politics and oust those who have made politics their profession. Lawyers should take time out from their profession and devote some time to this goal.”

He also said the nyay yatra was a good idea.  Earlier, the nyay yatris were welcomed by Khurshid, Singhvi, Bhandare and others.
