The off-spinner, who was here for a pormotional event, had his face covered with a mask.
"It's every individual's responsibility to fight swine flu. What information I get from news and media, I just try to follow them. Like I cover up with a mask while I travelling, at an airport or in a public event," Harbhajan said.
"But you people (the media) have played up this issue. It should be be tackled properly so that people are not affected mentally. You should disseminate the right information and tell people what to do and not," he added.
Harbhajan described Kolkata as his second home and said, "Whenever I have come here or played here at Eden Gardens, I have received huge response like at home. I have also done well here, it's like my second home."
The 29-year-old was in Baruipur on the south-eastern fringes of Kolkata to lay a foundation stone of United Vein Care Cancer Research and Welfare Institute.
