Rivers in UP in spate following heavy rains

With heavy rains in most parts of Uttar Pradesh, rivers of the state were in spate today while the water level of river Sharda crossed the danger mark at Palliakalan (Kheri).

With heavy rains in most parts of Uttar Pradesh, rivers of the state were in spate on Saturday while the water level of river Sharda crossed the danger mark at Palliakalan (Kheri).

Palliakalan received 98 mm rainfall and the water level of Ghagra is also rising in Katarniaghat (Bahraich), a Central Water Commission report said.

The Ganges has started rising in Phaphaamau, Chatnag in Allahabad, Mirzapur, Varanasi and Ghazipur, it said.

River Yamuna is also rising in Etawah and Auraiyya.

In the past 24 hours, Etawah recorded 19 cm rainfall while Kanpur dehat had 12 cm of rain.

Karvi, Chibbramau and Jalesar recorded 11 cm rainfall each.

There is a possibility of moderate rain in the next 24 hours and heavy rainfall in next 48 hours at a number of places in the state.
