She wanted to do her first Bengali film with Rituparno Ghosh. And that’s happening now. In the director’s Abahoman, she takes on the part of a young, pregnant wife.

Jishu Sengupta is her co-star. The sexy star will be almost unrecognisable draped in cotton saris.

“To be honest, I was a bit skeptical about the role.. how would I know how to play a pregnant woman?” she asks.

“ But Rituda and I have worked things out now. He showed me how a pregnant woman would walk. He discussed the girl’s body language with me for hours.”

Just two much
Sister Raima has advised her to relax and go at the part spontaneously. The part is relatively brief. Riya shares screen space with such veterans as Mamata Shankar and Dipankar De.

Riya Sen is also doing Zor Lagaa Ke in which she’s playing a Maharashtrian woman dressed in a nine-yard sari. Then there is Paying Guest, Tara Sitara and Love Khichdi which is about a sweet 16-year-old who finds her match in a much-older-man played by Randeep Hooda.
