AN ALLROUND effort by J P Yadav and an unbeaten 59 by T P Singh helped Railways rout Vidarbha by nine wickets in the Central Zone Ranji One-Dayers played at Emerald Heights International School here on Sunday.
Murali Karthik won the toss and opted to field first. The decision paid rich dividends as Railway bowlers ran through the Vidarbha batting line-up.
No Vidarbha batsman could get past 25 runs with the highest being 22 scored by Sameer Khare. Madhusudan Acharya (19) and Faiz Fazal (18) were the other main contributors. Vidarbha were skittled merely for 104 runs.
In a brilliant bowling spell, JP took four wickets conceding 26 runs while Santosh Saxena, Sanjay Bangar and Sanjiva Sanyal took two wickets each.
In reply, Railways lost opener G Shankar Rao at the team score of six runs. However, J P Yadav and T P Singh rallied forced to surpass the required 105 runs in 14.3 overs. T P Singh made a quick-fire 59 not out of 47 balls with the help of 11 boundaries while J P Yadav scored an unbeaten 34 of 38 balls with five boundaries. With this, Railways won the match by nine wickets and also got a bonus point.
Railways have secured five points (4+1). The match was over before lunch. With this loss, Vidarbha trail with minus one point.
