Rohit Sharma cracked an unbeaten hundred to fashion West Zone's eight-wicket victory over North in the Deodhar Trophy limited overs cricket league match on Friday.

Sharma smashed 142 not out from 123 balls with 14 fours and three sixes to guide West past North's challenging 278 for five with more than five overs to spare at the MB College ground.

Jacob Martin (72 no) lent valuable support as he added 184 runs for the unbroken third wicket with Sharma.

Gautam Gambhir's 119-ball 109 went in vain in the end.

Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan (65) put on 136 runs for the opening stand and the former then added another 47 runs with Dinesh Mongia (20) for the second wicket.

But North slumped from 183 for one in the 34th over with Ravindra Jadeja claiming four for 28.
