Like every Indian, I too am a huge fan of Sachin Tendulkar. But my all-time favourites are Imran Khan and Sunil Gavaskar. I even have a signed cap from Gavaskar,” says Rohit Roy with schoolboy glee.

At a press meet of Extraa Innings (Set MAX) Rohit, described as ‘every woman’s dream,’ was named Mandira Bedi and Charu Sharma’s new co-host who would walk and talk cricket for the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy.

Rohit has been a host and master of ceremonies for many shows before, besides being a television and film actor. “But hosting this series is really special. Whenever I saw Mandira, who is a dear friend, I would ask myself mera number kab aayega and now I have got a chance,” says the actor.

He says that hosting shows, especially cricket-based ones, requires a certain amount of panache, passion for the game, besides a pleasant personality. Though he enjoys hosting shows and sees it as an extension of his role as an actor he does not “see himself hosting shows all the time.” The actor is currently playing rich boy Rahul Lamba in Star Plus’ Viraasat.

Just like other couples of Nach Baliye, he and wife Manasi Joshi too will be hosting an episode of the second season of the celebrity dance couple show. “Yes, Nach Baliye is an emotional trip.”

Ask him if Star Plus had no problem with him hosting a show on a rival channel when Parmeet Sethi and Archana Puran Singh, another Nach Baliye couple, had been stopped from hosting the special episode since they were hosting Jhalak Dikhla Jaa on Sony and he says, “I have had no problems may be because Extraa Innings is a show that is in a different genre altogether, whereas Jhalak..., like Nach Baliye, is a celebrity dance show.
