“We have identified seven points including 100 metres within the Badarpur border, into Faridabad where drivers are asked not to park their vehicles,” DCP Central Faridabad Shashank Anand said.

He said violators would have to pay a penalty of up to Rs 10,000 and face six months’ imprisonment.

Among the points identified are Sari Chowk, Bhadkal Chowk, Old Faridabad chowk, Sector 15 market, Sector 28 chowk, besides 100 meters within the Badarpur border. Vehicles parked within 100 metres of these points would cost the drivers dearly—a hefty penalty up to Rs 10,000 besides six months imprisonment.

“ I have issued such an order invoking Section 71 of the Haryana Police Act,” Anand said.

He further said that, “The order will be strictly enforced after Republic Day. Till then, we would like to educate the people. I personally visited Bhadkal chowk yesterday and tried educate some,” he added.

“We are also putting up no-parking sign boards at these places,” Anand said, adding, “Some places identified for no parking are on National Highway number 2 and some inside the city.”

The NH 2-Mathura Road witnesses a huge traffic jam due to parking at some prominent places on highway etc.

“The police action is praiseworthy due to traffic mess on the highway, but how long the police enforce this order remains to be seen,” one Ganesh Dutt said.
