Relief cheques worth Rs 40,000 each were distributed to 104 families at Dani-Saidan and its adjoining areas in Uri on Monday evening by minister for consumer affairs and public distribution Taj Mohi-ud-Din, an official spokesman said.

The minister assured the people that the state government led by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is committed to make all basic amenities equally available to the three regions of the state especially in the remote and far-flung areas, the spokesperson said.

Later, Mohi-ud-Din inspected the ongoing works in Uri and urged the concerned agencies to complete the projects within the scheduled period.
