IN A bid to promote literacy in state, a City youth Ajit Gill will run 1800 km across the state from May 1 for two months with the message of ‘run for literacy’. The event has been
organised by a NGO Council for Social Accountability. Organising Committee president Amir Ahmed Khan Durrani told reporters that the objective of the programme was to generate awareness for literacy. “We had launched a programme ‘Ab angutha nahin lagega’ last year under which we started a campaign to literate people.
More than 8000 people in the first phase of the programme learned to sign”, said Durrani. Run for literacy is the second edition of that programme, he added.
Ajit will start his run from Tatyta Tope Stadium on May Day and pass through Indore, Ujjian, Gwalior, Sagar, Satna, Rewa, Jabalpur, Hoshangabad and will be back on June 30 after covering 1800 km. “I want to see 100 per cent literacy in the state.
I hope my run will send message among the masses about the importance of school for children”, said Ajit. He will run about 30 km in a day- 15 km in the morning and rest in the evening.
