And when he’s pulling up errant drivers at the crowded Mall Road, most don’t mind. That’s because he uses Gandhigiri.

Having joined the hill station’s senior citizens in their bid to control illegal traffic on the Mall, Bond can be seen handing out flowers to motorists and requesting them not to drive during prohibition hours (5 pm to 10 pm).

This rule is constantly violated, inconveniencing senior citizens on their evening walks the most.

On Sunday, the 75-year-old writer stood at the entrance to the Mall and urged motorists to follow traffic norms.
The Senior Citizens Association is thrilled to have Bond campaigning for their drive.

“It is a wonderful gesture…. and we’re deeply grateful,” said RK Khanna, a member.
