"The Vichar Baithak of the SAD at Shimla was a Viyarth Baithak (futile exercise)," Punjab Congress spokesman Sukhpal Singh Khaira said in Chandigarh.

The meeting was nothing but a "motivated attempt to build the sagging image of Sukhbir Singh Badal by a motley group of sycophant Akalis", he said.

"In terms of decisions, it was a damp squib. No burning issues plaguing the state were deliberated upon," Khaira said.

The second and last day of the meeting was kept for Centre bashing, the spokesman said adding the conclave was more of a leisure trip organised by "pseudo Akalis" led by Sukhbir Badal.

The Congress demanded the resignation of Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal for what it said failing to raise the issue of subsidies at the party forum.
