The court dismissed the petition on the ground that it was not a fit case for bail, a court official said.

Yadav, brother of former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi, was charged of assaulting a candidate in a local body election in Gopalganj district in June.

In early July, a Gopalganj court had issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest against him and the district police had later issued an arrest warrant.

The Gopalganj court had last month rejected Yadav's anticipatory bail plea.
