The bad boy of Bollywood, Salman Khan commands a formidable following overseas if trade and box-office results are to be belived. Hated and loved by those who care to react to him, Salman was born on December 27, 1965.
The son of Salim Khan, the famed scriptwriter (half of the famed Salim-Javed writing team) Salman shot to fame with Maine Pyar Kiya (opposite Bhagyashree in 1989). One of three Khans to rule Bollywood in the 90s, the other two being Shahrukh and Aamir, Salman has been in the news for more wrong reasons than right. Among the lesser problems that one associates with him are his ripping off his shirts at the slightest pretext onscreen!

That, and the flexing of his muscles onscreen to some extent, may have been the reason why he was voted the 7th best-looking man in the world by People Magazine at one time.
An average actor, he has mainly stayed afloat because of his great looks and wow physique. His forte lies in doing comic and romantic roles (the two genres he's explored well in Raj Santoshi's Andaz Apna Apna, Sanjay Bhansali's Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Khamoshi among others.
Salman has also done action films like Garv and portrayed off beat characters like Radhey in Tere Naam - a film that is said to be semi-autobiographical in tone.
However, it gets worse from here. Salman has been arrested and jailed for poaching endangered wild animals after allegedly shooting a rare black antelope near Jodhpur, on 12 October 1998. He has also served time behind bars under the charge of having connection with underworld mafia. He was also questioned about Bharat Shah, a producer of Chori Chori Chupke Chupke (2001) since Shah has also been linked with underworld mafia in 2000.
He has also been arrested for culpable homicide following the death of a man in a car accident in Bombay. Salman was involved in an incident in which several homeless people were hit by his car (which he was driving) in an area of north Bombay. The film star has been charged with "culpable homicide not amounting to murder". He also faces charges of drunk driving and not having a valid licence. If convicted, he could be jailed for up to 10 years.
Had a well publicised affair with Aishwarya Rai which lasted 2 years. Apparently his endless tantrums traumatized her enough to give a press conference in early 2003 where she declared that she would never work with him again for personal reasons. Was accused in another press conference in spring 2003 by Vivek Oberoi to have called the latter 41 times during one night and threatened him with death as well - for being overly friendly with Ash.
He has two brothers and two sisters.
