Samarthan meet on RTI underway

A ‘TRAINING of Trainers’ on the ‘Right to Information Act 2005’ and ‘Urban Governance’ is being organised by Samarthan – Centre for Development for Support, Bhopal, from March 7 to 9 at Samarthan training hall.
A spokesman of the organisation said the main objective of the training is to sensitise the participants on various issues pertaining to the RTI Act and perspectives related to urban governance.
The participants of the training are the representatives of voluntary organisations from different regions of the State. T N Shrivastava, Chief Information Commissioner, State Information Commission, was the chief guest of the training on Tuesday. He addressed the organisations and provided information regarding the functioning of the State Information Commission.
During the discussion, the participants raised various issues pertaining to appeals. A session was held on the provisions of the RTI Act and structural, functional aspects at Centre and State.
Deliberations were held regarding the issues related t o filing of applications for seeking information from various government departments.
