Santhanam to contest one seat as AIADMK ally

The agreement was signed between him and AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa in Chennai.

The ruling AIADMK on Tuesday signed an electoral pact with expelled All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) leader L Santhanam under which he would contest one seat in the May 8 Assembly poll.

Santhanam, who was the party's lone legislator and state unit General Secretary, was expelled from the AIFB for 'indiscipline' after film actor Karthik took over as state unit President recently.

AIFB National General Secretary Debabrata Biswas, after his unsuccessful meeting with Jayalalithaa, had announced on Sunday last that the party would go it alone in the Assembly elections.
