The Delhi High Court order on admissions to nursery schools does not cover institutions run by minorities. But which schools qualify as minority institutions?

Many schools are claiming this status, in order to stick to their own admission rules, instead of following the 100-point marking system prescribed by the court. They include Sardar Patel Vidyalaya (SPV) on Lodhi Road. “We are a Gujarati linguistic-minority school,” said Kusum Warikoo, principal of SPV.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit clarified on Monday that minority status was not given to linguistic groups in Delhi. “Only schools run by religious minorities get the status,” she told HT.
