, will not be arrested when he appears before the state Assembly, which had summoned him on a breach of privilege charge for telecasting a sting operation relating to its MLAs.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice YK Sabharwal passed an order in this regard after Sardesai gave an undertaking that he will appear before the Assembly on October 27.

Senior advocate Rakesh Dwivedi, appearing for Uttar Pradesh, assured the court that the police custody would not be resorted to.

Taking into account the state government's submission and that of Sardesai, the court decided not to go ahead with other questions raised in the petition.

"In this view of this, we need not go into larger questions raised in the petition," the bench said.
