MINISTER FOR Scheduled Caste Welfare and Chairman of Scheduled Castes Finance Development Corporation Jagdish Devda has issued instructions to computerise the Corporation and the District Antyavasai Sahakari Vikas Samitis and also to prepare software.

This would ease accounts-related work of the Corporation and Samitis, calculating interest on disbursed loans and preparing bio-data of beneficiaries. This work would be carried out with the amount of interest available with the Samitis, said an official release issued here.

Under this computerisation programme, five computers for the Corporation HQs and one each for the Samitis, along with computer printers would be purchased. Corporation Managing Director Sudhi Ranjan Mohanty said that there were on an average 200 to 700 accounts in each of district Samitis for the last 15 years. Loans up to Rs 3-Rs 6 crore have been disbursed by the Samitis.

According to these accounts, recovery of about Rs 21 crore remains to be made. Shortcomings in the maintenance of loan accounts are likely since the calculations of monthly interest and the amount of recovery of loans are done manually.

About Rs 60,000 would be spent in each district for purchasing one computer along with a printer and preparing the software in each district. An amount of Rs 15 lakh would be spent for buying five computers and printers and preparing software for the Corporation HQs and setting up its website, the release added.
