As SP’s Ramji Lal Suman raised the issue during Zero Hour and demanded CBI probe into the matter, the saffron party MPs quickly launched a counter-offensive. Suman drew support from Mohammed Salim (CPM) and Madhusudan Mistry (Congress).

Speaker Somnath Chaterjee had to abruptly adjourn the House shortly before lunch break after his efforts to restore order did not yield any result.

Earlier, Suman had alleged that before the November 26, 2005 fake encounter, there had been 21 incidents in Gujarat. In the particular incident Shorabuddin Shaikh was killed in "cold blood" by Gujarat police which branded him as an LeT terrorist, he said.

"The Gujarat Home Minister should have been in jail," Salim remarked amid protests from the BJP members that the issue was sub-judice. He said the arrest of three police officials in the fake encounter had shown the "collusion" of the Narendra Modi government.
