Scindia, against whom BJP had pitted Harivallabh Shukla, along with his supporters, sat outside the district collector's office around 4pm.

Nearly 300 Congress workers, including former state ministers Mahendra Singh Kalukheda and KP Singh, had begun their agitation earlier in the day and was later joined by Scindia.

They also charged BJP with having attacked several Congress workers during Monday's polling, causing injuries to over a dozen party members, including Datia MLA Ghanshyam Singh.

The injured Congress workers were also present at the dharna to press for their demand for repolling in about 300 polling booths spread over Pichor and Pohri.

Scindia accused the rival party of rigging, booth capturing and damaging Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and resorting to firing to create terror among the electorate.

The Congress leader blamed the BJP government of violating the election decorum and alleged that not only party men but voters were intimidated during the polling.

Never before the state had witnessed such unruly scenes during elections, he alleged.
