Security, naxals exchange fire

Paramilitary forces and PWG naxalites exchanged fire in Vinkonda Assembly seat in Guntur where voting was in progress.

Paramilitary forces and PWG naxalites on Monday exchanges fire at Gangiganumola village in Vinkonda Assembly constituency in Guntur District where voting was in progress, police said here.

The exchange of fire lasted half an hour. The naxals of of PWG (CPI-ML) later retreated into the thick forest, leaving behind a country-made gun and six landmines.

Security forces combed the forest, for the hideout of naxals with the help of IAF helicopters.
