Tracking global trends, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark, Sensex, lowered by over 136.86 points in early trade on Wednesday on sustained selling by foreign funds in heavy-weighted stocks.

The Sensex, which had lost over 100 points in previous day trading, fell further by 136.86 points at 11,833.61 in the first five minutes of trading.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index, Nifty dropped by 36.60 points at 3,419.75.

The selling pressure gathered momentum following reports of the Asian markets turning weak on foreign funds reducing their holdings in the region.
