Sensex, Nifty end at record high

Sensex on Monday closed at an all-time high of 13,399.00 points while Nifty climbed to a record high of 3,862.05 points.

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex on Monday closed at an all-time high of 13,399.00 points, led by gains in Bharti Airtel, HDFC Ltd, Tata Motors and other heavyweight stocks on the back of aggressive buying by funds and retail investors.

The 30-share index, which had risen more than 145 points on Friday, gathered another 116.09 points at 13,399.00 after touching an all time intra-day-high of 13,410.08.

Similarly, the wide-based Nifty index on National Stock Exchange gained 24.00 points at 3,858.75 points. It climbed to a record high of 3,862.05 points during the session.

Major contributors to the rise in Sensex were Bharti Airtel, HDFC Ltd, BHEL, Infosys Technologies, Reliance Energy, Reliance Communications, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and Maruti Udyog.
