Seven debt-ridden farmers have committed suicide in Vidarbha region taking the death toll in the month of October to 112, an NGO claimed on Wednesday.
With these deaths, as many as 1,045 farmers have committed suicide in the region since June last year, NGO Vidarbha Janandolan Samiti President Kishore Tiwari said in a press release.
The deceased have been identified as Kawadu Parchake of Dabha, Sudam Kamble from Bhojla and Shyamrao Shivarkar of Warkhede (all Yavatmal district), Vishwambhar Muthal of Tolam (Washim), Haridas Jambhulkar from Lakhani (Bhandara), Pandurang Sapkal from Nibhora (Buldana) and Babytai Shende of Singori (Nagpur).
While at least 124 farmers committed suicide in September, 111 claimed their lives in August, 90 in July and 68 in June, Tiwari said.
