Though the exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, it was suspected that sparks from a battery kept inside the house might have lit the petrol kept in a jaricane, leading to the fire at Bible Hill colony of Phek town, they said.

The head of the family, owner of a truck, used to keep reserve petrol inside the house, and a loud explosion was heard before fire engulfed the house, police said.
