Sex racket busted in Uttaranchal, 8 held

With the arrest of a ruling Congress leader, Uttaranchal police on Friday claimed to have unearthed a sex racket in Dehradun.

Anand Suman Singh, member of Uttaranchal literature and art council, was arrested on Thursday after Stella, an alleged kingpin of the sex racket, told police that she was supplying girls to the Congress leader, Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun, Sanjay Gunjayal said in Dehradun.

As many as eight persons, including three alleged call girls, were arrested on Thursday from Patel Nagar area of the city where police sent a decoy customer to smash the racket being operated from a house.

The Congress leader, however, said he was being implicated in a political conspiracy. "I am innocent," Suman, a regular visitor to the Chief Minister's residence, told reporters in Dehradun.

Meanwhile, police claimed that interrogation of Stella has brought some more names in the racket to light. A ruling Congress MLA from New Delhi is also said to be involved in the scandal.
