Shahi Imam of Delhi Jama Masjid to be booked

A Rajasthan court has directed the police to register an FIR against Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid for his statement on the arrest of a prime accused in the Ahmedabad blasts case.

A Rajasthan court has directed the police to register an FIR against Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bhukari for his alleged inflammatory statement on the arrest of a prime accused in the Ahmedabad blasts case.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Omi Purohit ordered the police to conduct an inquiry and submit a report to him at the earliest after a preliminary hearing on a complaint filed by one Bharat Sharma, Station House Office, Kotwali, Chain Singh said.

Singh said they have received a direction to this effect from the court and will act on it.

Sharma had filed a complaint alleging that the cleric had stated that if the accused Abu Basheer, arrested for his involvement in July Ahmedabad blasts, "is not released then a bigger agitation then 1947 would be launched".
