THIS GEORGIAN hates kids. But, there is an exception. She loves her three-year-old son and that makes her a mother.
Model Lada Singh knows what it takes to be a complete mother and perfect model. “Yes, I get hassled when I find too many kids. But, Alex nee Aryan is my life. I was not ready for a baby, so five years of marriage went off without planning. And then God graced me with Aryan,” says the tall-blond model from Delhi, adding, “Aryan says, ‘My mom is a top model’ and loves to watch me on the ramp.”
But, how does she manage the home and the profession? “I am a hardcore professional. I kept doing shows even when I was five-month pregnant. Then I decided to take rest. But, I continued to have proper diet and workouts.
orkouts! Because I myself am a physical trainer. My best diet used to be half kg of almonds which I used to have in various tastes — with honey or salad.”
After Aryan was born, two months were just for him and my work-outs to get back the shape and since then I was ready to walk the ramp as per the old schedule,” says Lada, who still works out 2-3 hours a day and gives a full one hour to skin.
But, is she able to give full time to Aryan? “Sometimes there is a lot of time for him and I don’t fail to make full use of it. I take him out for movies, shopping and we chill out as much as we can. But, when there is a show, I have to go. I am in touch with him,” she says.
Aryan is also done some modeling assignments at this tender age. “He is very happy with my walking down the ramp.” Lada got selected in Gladrags but as she did not have Indian citizenship to qualify for participation. “Now, I am trying to get the citizenship soon and as I have it, have plan to try my luck in Mrs India pageant.”
Are her looks and appearance an asset? “It has been nine years since I came to India. After spending so many years, I have started loving India but till date people treat me as a foreigner. This is discrimination. But, it helps in my profession. Specially, when agencies need models for western wear and to display garments for Europe or US I get a good chance of work.”
She is comfortable married to Delhi-based exporter Ajay Singh whom she fell in love during college days in Georgia. Of course, sarees do comfort her. “I like sporting a lehnga and sari with a modern blouse,” says Lada who was in city for a fashion show organised Moksh Event to present Calcutta’s In Style ‘Lagan’ collection.
