Although no precise date was given, the opening is expected to take place 'soon.' That location will bring the number of Apple stores in mainland China up to seven. It currently also has another two stores in Hong Kong, the most recent of which, at Kowloon's Festival Walk, was only officially opened in September, plus one more under construction. Located at Causeway Bay's Hysan Place mall, it is expected to be ready within the next 12 months.

The announcement was made by the company's senior vice president of retail, John Browett, at a press preview ahead of the official opening of its latest Beijing Apple store on Saturday. The store, located in Wangfujing in the Dongcheng district of Beijing, is the biggest to date that Apple has opened in the region. Its doors are expected to open to the public at 9am local time on October 20 and the location is expected to employee 300 people.
