The demand was made by Sena MP Sanjay Raut who said owners who are rich industrialists and Bollywood actors should have no problem coughing up the amount generated from the event set to start next month.

“The state is facing unprecedented drought and needs funds urgently. The owners should contribute at least Rs500 crore which they earn,” Raut said.

“The tournament is a purely commercial venture and not a charity event and owners need to prove their loyalty to this state,” Raut said.
