Shiv Sena announced its support to SAD-BJP combine in Punjab saying the step was taken in "national interest" and to "show doors" to Punjab CM Amarinder Singh.
Shiv Sena on Friday announced its support to SAD-BJP combine in Punjab saying the step was taken in "national interest" and to "show doors" to Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.
"The support has been declared in national interest, to have Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the Prime Minister again, promote the creed of Punjab and Punjabiat, prevent division of votes, strengthen NDA alliance in the state and show doors to the Chief Minister," Sena's Punjab unit President Ravinder Arora told reporters at a press conference here.
Arora said the next elections too would be contested jointly by the troika.
He said Shiv Sena had earlier decided to field its candidates in at least six Lok Sabha seats but Gurdaspur sitting MP and filmstar Vinod Khanna "persuaded" Sena's High Command to support SAD-BJP combine.
