Shops to remain open till 11 pm
COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS would now be allowed to remain open till 11 pm as against 8 pm earlier. Issuing a GO in this connection, principal secretary Anees Ansari said it would, however, be up to the district magistrates to allow these establishments to remain open keeping in view law and order and power situation.

The Ordinance, especially in the context of women employees, makes it clear that their employers would not compel them to work after 7 pm without their written consent. In no circumstances, however, a commercial establishment employer would force his employees to work more than 8 hours at a stretch in a day and 48 hours in a week, states the GO. No employee would be compelled to work for two shifts in a row and their rights relating to getting overtime and weekly offs would remain unaffected.
