AMRITA DASS, Career consultant
Students are confused because there are so many avenues after school and also because of parental and peer pressure to take up certain subjects. Also, there are misconceptions that those who take up the Science stream are at an advantage and that there is not much scope for students in the Humanities. All these and more such issues need to be addressed. Moreover, students should be aware of the latest trends in education. There are no ideal careers, only ideal choices. Holistic counselling would certainly facilitate this and bring out the best in each individual.
ATUL KOHLI, Resident, Roorkee
Counselling is one way in which students can identify their areas of interest in academic or professional education. Through such sessions students are able to receive both psychological help and career guidance. Therefore, counselling programmes must be held not only before classes in a new academic year begin but during the session too.

RUKMANI, Resident, Delhi
Counselling students before the beginning of a new session can help them know about the courses they can choose, syllabi, career options available to them and the difficulties they may encounter. The assistance thus rendered will enable students make the right choices.
SUSHEEL JUNEJA, Career consultant Faridabad
Counselling should involve students, teachers as well as parents. It is important that the counsellor be proficient enough to help a student open up and seek the required information.
PRIYA GROWAR, School teacher, Mohali
Counselling students is imperative before a session gets underway. Institutes should hold interactive sessions in a friendly atmosphere so that students do not hesitate in discussing their likes and dislikes. A counsellor will then be able to judge the aptitude and capability of a student and accordingly advise him on the discipline he should opt for.
