Show-cause notice to food commissioner

ON A contempt petition, the Allahabad High Court issued show-cause notice to the food commissioner of Lucknow, Satyajeet Thakur, for non-compliance of court’s order.
The order was passed by Justice Tarun Agrawal on a contempt petition filed by supply inspector SC Srivastava,.
The court, while providing one more opportunity to comply with the court’s order, has directed to list the case after six weeks.
HC directive to Jaunpur DM
THE HIGH Court has directed the district magistrate, Jaunpur, to examine the records and pass appropriate order after verification of facts regarding the date of the first meeting of Nagar Panchayat, Jaunpur, in accordance with the law laid down by this court.
This order was passed by a Division Bench comprising Justice Sushil Harkauli and Justice Vikram Nath on a writ petition filed by Waseem Ahmed, elected president of Nagar Panchayat, Kheta Sarai, Jaunpur.
The petitioner’s counsel RN Yadav had said that first meeting of Nagar Panchayat was held on March 20,2001.
Thus, he pleaded that without completion of five year’s term, the petitioner was removed from his post and administrator was appointed in his place.
Vehicle thefts on campus
The Young Lawyers’ Welfare Front has expressed concern over the increasing cases of vehicle theft on the High Court campus. Presiding over a meeting, Front secretary Saurabh Shukla alleged that police administration was indifferent towards the thefts. He demanded that a close circuit TV must be installed on the High Court campus and adequate police force should be deployed to check the such incidents.
The Front threatened to launch an agitation if the police failed to take action.
Others who attended the meeting included Kameshwar Singh, JK Singh Patel, Shashi Kant Pandey, Manoj Kumar Singh, Mrityunjaya Tiwari, Rajesh Yadav and others.
