Shyam Saran meets UK counterpart in London

The Foreign Secretary will meet the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Nicholas Burns, at the India House on Thursday morning.

Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran on Wednesday held discussions with his British counterpart Michael Jay on further improving bilateral relations and preparations for the G-8 Summit in St Petersburg scheduled in July.

Saran, who flew in London from New Delhi earlier on Wednesday also conferred with Jay, the Permanent Under Secretary of State in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the UK, on a number of international issues, including Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran.

Saran and Jay, who are old friends, had a very cordial meeting, sources said.
