SIM card case: Jammu jail staffers suspended

A committee probing the SIM-cards and mobile recovery from the terrorists and criminals in the prison found them allegedly involved in the case.

The assistant superintendent of the high security Kotbalwal jail was among two of its staffers suspended after a committee probing the SIM-cards and mobile recovery from the terrorists and criminals in the prison found them allegedly involved in the case.

Director General of Prison, Rajinder Tikoo put two Kotbalwal jail staffers Assistant Superintendent Ramesh Chander and store keeper Chuni Lal under suspension after they were found allegedly involved in the simcards recovery case, official sources said.

A committee was probing their involvement in the sim-card case, they said adding that they were found involved.

Earlier, on January 12, six staffers were suspended by the jail authorities for their involvement, they said adding that they were also found guilty of smuggling in simcards in jail and providing luxurious life style in jail to Pakistani terrorists.

So far, four sim-cards and five mobiles, besides TV and other electronic gadgets were recovered from Kotbalwal jail by the CID department of Jammu and Kashmir Police from barracks of terrorists in November last year.
